The ace who has led Japan’s para alpine skiing for many years added another chapter to history.

Misses out on back-to-back gold, but says she “gave her best”

In the post-race press conference, she also spoke honestly about missing out on a repeat title after winning at the previous Games.

Muraoka admitted her frustration, saying “I wanted the gold medal”, but also looked back on the race by saying, “I gave my best. I do feel a sense of accomplishment.”

One of the defining figures of Japanese para sport

Muraoka won five medals at the 2018 PyeongChang Paralympics, quickly becoming one of the leading stars of Japanese para sport.

She then added three gold medals and one silver at the 2022 Beijing Paralympics, maintaining world-class performance over many years.

By continuing to add medals in Milano Cortina, she keeps writing new records into the history of Japanese para sport.

More medals may still be to come

Muraoka has already won two silver medals at these Games.

As the ace of Team Japan, expectations remain high that she could add even more medals in the remaining events.
