Yuki Hayakawa named MVP as Kashima’s title-winning season shines at the 2025 J.LEAGUE AWARDS
At the 2025 J.LEAGUE AWARDS, Kashima Antlers goalkeeper Yuki Hayakawa was named the league’s Most Valuable Player for the first time in his career. It is the first time in 16 years, and the fourth time overall, that a Kashima player has received the MVP award, underlining the impact of the club’s championship-winning season.
Title-winning goalkeeper who anchored Kashima’s defence
Throughout the campaign, Hayakawa provided a calm and commanding presence at the back. With crucial saves in one-on-one situations, confident handling of crosses and sharp reflexes, he repeatedly rescued his side in difficult moments and played a key role in securing the Meiji Yasuda J1 League title.
In addition to his shot-stopping ability, he showed the qualities of a modern goalkeeper by contributing to build-up play with his footwork and proactive positioning. Acting not only as the last line of defence but also as the first point of attack, he delivered a consistently high level of performance across the season.
Three Kashima players in the J1 Best Eleven
The J1 Best Eleven also featured three players from champions Kashima Antlers, reflecting the strength and balance of the side. Key figures from the defensive, midfield and attacking lines were recognised, highlighting how the team’s collective quality translated into individual honours.
Across the league, the 2025 season showcased a vibrant mix of experienced veterans and emerging talents, with many players making their mark in crucial fixtures and raising the overall level of competition in the J.League.
Leo Ceará wins Best Goal award
The Best Goal award went to Kashima forward Leo Ceará, whose outstanding strike was selected as the goal of the season. Known for his powerful shooting and instinct in front of goal, he produced a spectacular finish that changed the momentum of the match and thrilled the supporters in the stadium.
For Kashima, collecting both the league title and multiple individual awards made the 2025 season a particularly memorable and successful campaign for the entire club.
